Wyomia Tyus Olympic Park

Spalding County obtained the land to build Wyomia Tyus Olympic Park in 1993. In 1999 the park was completed using 1996 SPLOST funds. This beautiful regional park of 164 acres was named after Olympic Gold medalist Wyomia Tyus who is from Griffin/Spalding County. Since its opening this park has quickly become a favorite as it features 2 large picnic pavilions overlooking a 3 acre lake with fountain, a 7 field soccer complex and a 5 field baseball complex. Each complex offers concessions and additional picnic and play areas. The baseball complex has the added bonus of batting and pitching cages.

Fitness walking is one of the favorite activities in the community and this park offers rubberized and paved trails throughout the park as well has stretching and exercise areas. The walk trails are lighted for evening walks.
